yup, my trusty Disney Sketch Pad. It's a graphics tablet for kids which I got when I was in grade 7....5 years ago It's gettin' quite worn out. It is pressure sensative, but the pen hooks up to the pad with a wire (I'm used to it now ) ...but the active area is 6 1/2 by 9 inches. So it does the trick for me Although I wouldn't mind getting a wacom

I'm not aware of a plugin for doing 'painting' stuff - but having such a tool would totally take the fun out of it anyway and it would be nothing more than a doctored photo...

Jostens has a pretty wide range of services now... Hope their able to please you with the photos... Joining your yearbook staff is a great way to contribute toward a exciting way to remember your high school years... It's also great training if you plan to go into the graphics/printing industry later in life...
